The Fulbright Program offers grants to students, scholars, teachers, and professionals.

As of 2009, more than 294,000 Fulbrighters from over 155 countries have participated in the Fulbright Program since it began in 1946.

Hundreds of Fulbright alumni worldwide currently hold top positions in government, higher education, journalism, law, and the private sector.

20 Fulbright alumni have served as a head of state or government.
11 Fulbright alumni have been elected to the United States Congress.
1 Fulbright alumnus has served as Secretary-General of the United Nations.
1 Fulbright alumnus has served as Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
39 Fulbright alumni from 11 countries are recipients of the Nobel Prize.
1 Fulbright alumnus is a recipient of an Olympic gold medal.



Available Student Grants:

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program: offers fellowships for U.S. graduating seniors, graduate students,young professionals and artists to study abroad for one academic year. The Program also includes an important English Teaching Assistant component.

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program: enables graduate students, young professionals and artists from abroad to conduct research and study in the United States. Some scholarships are renewed after the initial year of study.

The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program: provides opportunities for young English teachers from overseas to refine their teaching skills and broaden their knowledge of American culture and society while strengthening the instruction of foreign languages at colleges and universities in the United States.

The International Fulbright Science & Technology Award: a new, internationally competed award for doctoral study at leading U.S. institutions in science, technology, and engineering.

The Fulbright-mtvU Fellowships: award up to 4 U.S. students the opportunity to study the power of music as a cultural force abroad. Fellows conduct research for one academic year on projects of their own design about a chosen musical aspect.
